Arsenal To Sign Rising Brazilian Star?

20-year-old Brazilian striker Lenny - full name Lenny Fernandes Coelho - who currently plies his trade with Brazilian side Palmeiras, is reportedly bound for Arsenal.

Reports suggest that the Gunners have clinched his signature after the player signed a pre-contract agreement with the north London outfit.

Lenny's Palmeiras deal is due to expire in December, and as such, he could be on the Gunners' books as early as January 1.

However, it is expected that the forward will be shunted out on loan to Spain to garner some first team experience and a work permit. Arsenal have an agreement with feeder club Salamanca to loan them a striker or goalkeeper in January.

Mexican striker Carlos Vela benefitted from terms on loan with Celta Vigo and Osasuna among others, where he impressed before returning to the Emirates with a work permit in time for this season.

Arsene Wenger's side allegedly tabled a bid for Lenny in 2007, which was rejected by his club and was in the region of around £3 million.

The striker has European experience having represented Sporting Braga of Portugal in 2007.
